To add an overhang effect to edges

Click View tab 3D Palettes panel Visual Styles Manager.
With the current visual style selected in the sample images, in Edge Modifiers, click the Overhanging Edges button and adjust the amount of overhang in Overhang.

NoteThe overhang is scaled to look appropriate in viewports of different sizes. The overhang effect is not applied to a line that is less than twice as long as the overhang would be.
