6 Alarm Attribute

0=Normal, Alarms period are longer than the Transient Threshold.

1=Transient Count, The times and the period of the alarms whose periods are shorter than the Transient Threshold are summed up. If the sum result is longer than the Alarm Occurrence Period Threshold or Alarm Occurrence Times Threshold, an alarm so called Transient Count Alarm is triggered. Because Transient Count Alarm is based on accumulative result, the recovery of the alarm may occur at least one Summing Cycle later. The Summing Cycle can be query by MML "LST STATSLDWIN".

Impact on the System

  • If only one link in the trunk group is faulty, the service performance between the GSCU and service boards decreases.
  • If all the links in the trunk group are faulty, the services between the GSCU and the service boards are disrupted.

System Actions

Disable the port in the trunk group until it returns to normal. During the disabled period, the service carried by the faulty port is passed to other ports in the trunk group.

Possible Causes

  • The peer board is reset.
  • The peer board is not in position or is not secured.
  • The hardware of the peer board is faulty.
  • The local board is not in position or is not securely inserted.
  • The hardware of the local board is faulty.
  • The hardware of the backplane is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the peer service board is in position.

    Y => The peer board is in position. Go to 2.

    N => The peer board is not in position. You can infer that the alarm is caused by the out-of-position of the peer service board. The alarm handling is complete.

  2. Check whether the peer service board is reset.

    Y => The peer service board is reset. You can infer that the alarm is caused by the reset of the peer service board. The alarm handling is complete.

    N => The peer service board is not reset. Go to 3.

  3. Secure the peer service board and check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is not cleared. Go to 4.

    N => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

  4. Secure the local board and check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is not cleared. Go to 5.

    N => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

  5. Reset the peer service board and wait until the board is successfully restarted. Check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

    N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to 6.

  6. Reset the local board and wait until the board is successfully restarted. Check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

    N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to 7.

  7. Replace the peer service board and wait until the board is successfully restarted. Check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

    N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to 8.

  8. Replace the board and wait until the board is successfully restarted. Check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.
