Description

This fault alarm is reported when the FE port which on the board has configured with an IP address,but there's no packets send or receive in this port.

Attribute

Alarm ID Alarm Severity Alarm Type
20969 Major Fault

Parameters

ID Name Meaning
1 Subrack No.

The number of the subrack

2 Slot No.

The number of the slot

3 CPU No.

The number of the CPU

4 Link No.

The Number of the Link

5 Alarm Attribute

0=Normal, Alarms period are longer than the Transient Threshold.

1=Transient Count, The times and the period of the alarms whose periods are shorter than the Transient Threshold are summed up. If the sum result is longer than the Alarm Occurrence Period Threshold or Alarm Occurrence Times Threshold, an alarm so called Transient Count Alarm is triggered. Because Transient Count Alarm is based on accumulative result, the recovery of the alarm may occur at least one Summing Cycle later. The Summing Cycle can be query by MML "LST STATSLDWIN".

Impact on the System

  • If the alarm is generated on the PIU, the services may be disrupted.
  • If the alarm is generated on the GOMU, the corresponding OMLs become unavailable. Consequently, the system reliability deteriorates.

System Actions

None.

Possible Causes

  • The transmission of the PIU is faulty.
  • The Ethernet cable or optical fiber is not connected to the port on the PIU.
  • The Ethernet cable is not connected to the external Ethernet port on the GOMU.
  • The external Ethernet port on the GOMU is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the LMT. On the BSC Device Panel tab page, check whether the PIU (GFGUA, GFGUG, or GFGUB) is configured in the corresponding slot and subrack that is reported in the current alarm.

    Y => Go to 2.

    N => Go to 4.

  2. Connect the Ethernet cable or optical fiber to the PIU again. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

    N => Go to 3.

  3. Perform a loopback on the FE port on the PIU. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

    N => The alarm is not cleared. Contact Huawei Customer Service Center.

  4. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the GOMU again. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y => The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete.

    N => The alarm is not cleared. Contact Huawei Customer Service Center.
