21602 Adjust time failure with the NTP server

Description

This alarm is generated when the time check between the OMU and the NTP server fails for 15 times within 15 minutes.

0=Normal, Alarms period are longer than the Transient Threshold.

1=Transient Count, The times and the period of the alarms whose periods are shorter than the Transient Threshold are summed up. If the sum result is longer than the Alarm Occurrence Period Threshold or Alarm Occurrence Times Threshold, an alarm so called Transient Count Alarm is triggered. Because Transient Count Alarm is based on accumulative result, the recovery of the alarm may occur at least one Summing Cycle later. The Summing Cycle can be query by MML "LST STATSLDWIN".

Impact on the System

The time displayed on the LMT device panel is inaccurate and the time of the alarm and traffic statistics is incorrect.

Possible Causes

  • The IP address of the NTP server is incorrectly configured.
  • The time check function of the NTP server is disabled.
  • The network communication between NEs and the NTP server is faulty.

Procedure

  1. On the BSC6000 LMT,right-click BSC6000 to choose Configure BSC Attributes from the shortcut menu. On the Basic Data tab page in the displayed dialog box,check whether the IP address of the NTP server configured on the OMU is correct.

    Y=> Go to 2.

    N=> Reconfigure the service IP address of the NTP server. Go to 4.

  2. Contact the engineers of the NTP server to check whether the NTP server is started.

    Y=> Go to 3.

    N=> Start the NTP server. Go to 4.

  3. Log in to the OMU through PuTTY. Then, run the ping command to check whether the communication between the BSC and the NTP server is normal.

    Y=> Go to 4.

    N=> Contact the network engineers to rectify the fault. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

  4. Check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Y=> The alarm handling is complete.

    N=> Contact Huawei Customer Service Center.
