Impact on the System

  • Critical:If the active MPT 10 MHz clock is faulty, the system automatically switches the clock source over to the standby 10 MHz clock. Stability of the system clock declines, and the success rate of service switchover also falls.
  • If the CPU working clock is faulty, the CPU cannot work.
  • Minor Current services are not affected, yet system reliability declines.

System Actions

  • When a critical alarm related to the active MPT is reported, the system handles the alarm as follows:
  • 1) If the NodeB has a standby MPT, the system performs active/standby switchover for the MPT.
  • 2) If the NodeB does not have a standby MPT, the system switches the current 10 MHz clock from the active clock over to the standby clock.
  • When the alarm reported is a critical one related to the standby MPT or a minor one related to the active or standby MPT, no system action is taken.

Possible Causes

There maybe hardware fault existing with the board.

Procedure

  1. Reset the MPT.

Reset the MPT.Check whether the alarm is cleared

Y => The alarm is cleared. End alarm handling.

N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to Step 2.

  2. Replace the MPT.

Replace the MPT.Check whether the alarm is cleared
