Replace the TMU

Replace the TMU.

Description: Replacing the primary TMU disrupts all the services carried by the BTS. Replacing the extended TMU disrupts all the services carried by the TRXs of which the transmission is implemented through the extended E1 ports. Replacing the secondary TMU disrupts all the services carried by the TRXs that are controlled by the secondary TMU.

During the board replacement, be sure to take proper measures to protect the equipment from electrostatic discharge.

If the faulty TMU is out of service, directly perform step 2).

The procedure for replacing the TMU is as follows:

1) Change the administrative status of the TRX.

Start the Site Maintenance Terminal (SMT). Select Site on the left, and then double-click Site Management Right to obtain the site management rights. Through the SMT, query and record the type of the faulty TMU. Select the corresponding TRX and the LOCKED option.

2) Remove the TMU.

Remove the TMU from the slot.

3) Install the new TMU.

Check the settings of the jumper for the TMU. Install the new TMU in the corresponding slot, and then power on the TMU. In the case of the primary TMU, you should power on the primary TMU after the site initialization is complete.

4) Check the following items after the TMU replacement.

The board is securely installed.

The board version is correct.

The alarm related to the new board is not reported on the LMT.

The board is running normally.

Rectify the fault if any.

5) Perform the test.

Perform the calling test by using the MS. If the test fails, check the preceding operations for any problem.

6) Change the operation status and administrative status of each TRX controlled by the TMU.

Select the corresponding TRX and the UUNLOCKED option.

7) Complete the replacement.

After the required tests are successful, release the site management rights. The TMU replacement is complete.
