Rejects to Immediate Assignments (Circuit Service)

Measurement Counter

A302J: CELL_IMM_ASS_REJ_CS

Description

In the immediate assignment procedure, the BSC attempts to assign a channel after receiving a CHAN RQD message from the BTS. After successfully assigning a channel, the BSC sends a CHANNEL ACTIVATION message to the BTS. If the BSC receives a CHANNEL ACTIVATION ACKNOWLEDGE message indicating that the channel is ready from the BTS, the BSC sends an IMM ASS CMD message to the MS to instruct the MS to access the specified channel.

After receiving a CHAN RQD message from the BTS, the BSC sends the MS an IMM ASS REJ message if there is no channel available, the channel activation fails, or the channel activation times out. The immediate assignment fails.

This measurement provides the number of IMM ASS REJ messages sent by the BSC to an MS when the access reason is MOC, MTC, Call Re-Establishment, Emergency Call, or Locating Updating.

Unit

Integer number or integer

Measurement Point

As shown in Figure 1, each time the BSC sends an IMM ASS REJ message to an MS in the measured cell and the access reason is MOC, MTC, Call Re-Establishment, Emergency Call, or Locating Updating (see measurement points A, B, and C), the counter is incremented by one.

Figure 1 Immediate assignment reject procedure

A

The BSC sends an IMM ASS REJ message due to no available channel

B

The BSC sends an IMM ASS REJ message due to channel activation failure

C

The BSC sends an IMM ASS REJ message due to channel activation timeout

This is an original counter without involving any formula.
