This describes how to wear an ESD wrist strap. To protect the equipment from electrostatic discharge, ground the equipment properly and wear an ESD wrist strap when operating the equipment.
Context
- Check the ESD wrist strap. Its resistance must be between 0.75 megohm and 10 megohms. The service life of a typical ESD wrist strap is two years. When the resistance of the ESD wrist strap fails to meet the requirement, replace it with a new one.
- Avoid touching boards with your clothing, because the touching can generate static electricity beyond the protection of the ESD wrist strap.
Procedure
- Wear the ESD wrist strap properly. Tighten the ESD wrist strap around your wrist to keep the metal tab in good contact with your skin.
- Connect the ESD wrist strap to the ESD connector on the cabinet, as shown in Figure 1.
NOTE: The ESD wrist strap can be inserted into any ESD connector on the BSC cabinet, as shown in ① or ② of Figure 1.
