An HTML frameset document displays multiple, independent, scrollable regions called frames within the browser window. An HTML frameset document assigns a name to each frame and specifies an HTML page to display in it. You can create and edit virtually all options within Design view. Options available for framesets include whether a frame can scroll and whether it can be resized.
The name that you assign to each frame enables you to link individual frames to HTML documents. You can send new content to any frame by specifying the frame's name in the TARGET attribute of a hyperlink. For example, one frame might contain a table of contents whose entries are hyperlinks. When you click an entry in the table of contents, the HTML page identified in the URL of the hyperlink is displayed in the adjoining frame that is named as the link's TARGET.
