Box & Whisker Defaults

Click the Box & Whisker Options button in the Documents/Graphs: Display options pane in the Options dialog to display the Box & Whisker defaults dialog.

The plot defaults specified in this dialog affect the appearance of both Box plots and Means w/ Error plots. Graphs in STATISTICA consist of one or more plots (i.e., they may represent one or more series/sets of data). By default, a different set of colors and patterns is used for each consecutive plot. You can select for each plot (of the first 4 plots) the default marker, line, and area colors and patterns of specific plot components. Click on a (numbered) plot component to display the appropriate dialog (i.e., Line Properties, Marker Properties, Area Properties), from which you can select the default color and pattern for the component.

Width. Use the options in this group box to determine the widths of the Box(s) and Whisker(s) in the plot, relative to the scaling (step size) for the horizontal axis, i.e., the axis along which multiple box/whiskers for multiple groups or variables are plotted.

Box/Whisker. If you specify 100% as the width in either the Box or Whisker field, the respective graph component will be as wide as a single "step" along the horizontal x-axis; so if multiple boxes and whiskers are plotted, they most likely will run into each other. Thus, specify (typically) less than 100%.

Legend symbol width. Use this option to control the width of the legend symbols. The available settings are Slim, Narrow, Medium, and Wide.

Restore Defaults. Click this button to restore the options in this dialog to their original default values.
