An event is an action that is typically performed by users, such as clicking a mouse button, pressing a key, changing data, or opening a spreadsheet or workbook. In STATISTICA, certain events are visible to the outside world and can be used to customize its behavior. Using programmable events, you can tailor program behavior to your needs. Events are part of set of tools built into STATISTICA to make it a powerful solution building system. There are two different types of events: document-level events and application-level events.

Document-level events occur for only open documents, and in some cases, for objects within them. They allow you to customize the behavior of open documents. Application-level events occur at the level of the application itself. They allow you to customize the behavior of all documents of a certain type (such as all spreadsheets, or all workbooks, or all reports, etc.)
