The options described here are for customizing general plot features including marker, point, and line displays and the assignment of axes. These options are available in the General dialog as well as on the General tab of the Plot Layout dialog and via the Graph Options dialog, when you have made a 3D XYZ graph.
Plot. Use the Plot drop-down box to select the plot to which you want to make changes. If you have several plots in one graph, you can assign names to each plot using the Name box (below).
Add new plot/Delete. Click the Add new plot button to display the New plot(s) dialog and define a new plot for the graph. To delete a plot, select the plot you want to delete in the Plot box and click the Delete button. Note if there is only one plot in the graph, you cannot delete it (the Delete button is unavailable). However, you can choose not to display the plot by clearing the Display plot check box. To add or delete custom functions, use the options in the Custom Function options pane in the Graph Options dialog.
Display plot. Select the Display plot check box to display the currently selected plot in the graph. If this check box is cleared, the currently selected plot is not displayed in the graph.
Marker. Select the Marker check box to display point markers in the plot. Click the Markers button to display the Marker Properties dialog in which you can customize the appearance of the point markers. The current point marker specifications are shown in the view area of the Markers button.
Spike line. Select the Spike line check box to connect the data points in the plot with a line. If you choose this option, specify a Line type. Click the Spike line button to customize the appearance of the line in the Line Properties dialog. The current line specifications are shown in the view area on the Line button.
Trace line. Select the Trace line check box to connect the data points in the plot with a line. If you choose this option, specify a Line type. Click the Trace line button to customize the appearance of the line in the Line Properties dialog. The current line specifications are shown in the view area on the Line button.
Picture markers. Click the Picture markers button to display the Picture Markers - Graphics Files Images dialog. In that dialog you can attach to individual points or groups of points one or more graphic files. These facilities will allow you to, for example, make scatterplots where every point is represented by a bitmap (picture), and a different bitmap (different pictures) is used for different groups of points.
Name. Enter a name for the currently selected plot in the Name box. STATISTICA assigns the name to the plot number. This option is useful if you have several plots on one graph.
Legend. Select the display property of the legend in the Legend drop-down box. Select Auto to allow STATISTICA to control when the legend is displayed, select Off to turn off the display of the legend, and select On to turn on the display of the legend.
Style. Instead of using the options on this tab (e.g., Marker, Trace Line, etc.), you can select the style you want to use for this plot from the Style drop-down box. Click the button next to this drop-down box to save the current specifications as a (default) style. See Graphics Styles for additional details.
