You may try the hand writing feature if you only remember how to write a character but do not remember its phonetic readings or radicals.

Hand writing property setting

Open the HandWriting Property dialog box in either of the following ways:

• On the applet bar of IME pad, right-click the Hand Writing icon , and then click Hand Writing (CH) Property.
• On the title bar of IME pad, click , click Applet Menu, and then click Hand Writing (CH) Property.

In this dialog box, you can turn on/off auto recognition. If auto recognition is on, after you draw a stroke, the candidate box will automatically show the recognized results.

Enter or search for characters

1. In IME pad, click the Hand Writing icon to open the hand writing applet.
2. Draw strokes in the hand writing box. If automatic recognition is turned on or the Recog button is clicked, all recongnized results are displayed in the candidate box.



• Clicking Revert can cancel the last stroke in the hand writing box.
• Clicking Clear can clear all strokes in the hand writing box.
• Clicking Recog can recognize the strokes in the hand writing box immediately. Double-click to turn on/off automatic recognition.
3. You can move the mouse pointer to a character to view its radical or phonetic symbols. Click the desired character to enter it. If you are using Microsoft New Phonetic, you need to press Enter to confirm.
