HanYu Pinyin is based on the Pinyin system defined in ISO 7098.

You can use HanYu Pinyin in one of the following ways:

• Enter HanYu Pinyin and the tone, and use number 1 to 5 to represent the first tone to the fifth tone (the neutral tone). For example, type "zhu4yin1" to get "注音".
• Enter HanYu Pinyin without tones. For example, type "zhuyin" and then press the Enter key or the Spacebar to get "注音".
• Enter HanYu Pinyin and press the Spacebar for the tones. For example, type "zhu yin " and then press the Enter key or the Spacebar to get "注音".
