Methodologies Lie the Seeds of Their Failure

If we accept that computing methodologies are formalizations of best practice, we must also concede that the methodologies must, by definition, be obsolete or at least anachronistic by the time they are published, given the conditions under which they are used: the speed with which the problems we tackle with computerization change, the progress made in base technologies, and the pace at which businesses change.
