The SMSRUN program (SMSRUN16.EXE and SMSRUN32.EXE) configures SMS program groups and starts SMS applications on clients running OS/2, Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows version 3.1, or Windows for Workgroups.
For clients running OS/2, Windows 95, Windows version 3.1, or Windows for Workgroups, SMS Client Setup modifies the WIN.INI file to load SMSRUN16.EXE each time Windows starts. SMSRUN16 reads SMSRUN16.INI to see which program groups to create and which applications to start.
On clients running Windows NT, SMSRUN32.EXE runs from the Load value in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT \CurrentVersion\Windows key in the Windows NT registry, so it runs at startup. SMSRUN32 uses SMSRUN32.INI to create program groups on the desktop and start applications as specified in the [Startup] section.
