EXPLANATION: SDLC link services maintain counts of data traffic and error events that are logged whenever a counter "wraps," or whenever a connection through the link service terminates. There are counters for each of 20 types of event. Current counters show the values since the statistics were last logged. They are reset to zero after being logged. Accumulated counters are total counts kept from the time the SDLC link service was started.

The counters have the maximum value of 32,767. When any "current" counter reaches this value, the counters are logged and reset. "Accumulated" counters are frozen when they reach the maximum.

The individual counters are as follows:

TXIOK Information frames successfully transmitted

TXIER Information frames not successfully transmitted

RETXI Re-transmitted information frames

RXIOK Information frames successfully received

RXIER Frames not successfully received

RXINV Invalid frames received

RXFRM Total number of frames received

TXFRM Total number of frames sent

RXLST Frames received and then discarded

FRMRT 'FRMR' frames transmitted

CTSER Clear to Send drops during transmission

DSRUP DSR up before switched connection attempted

DSRDN No DSR before switched connection timeout

DSRER DSR lost before connection established

IDLTO Link inactivity timeout

FRMRR 'FRMR' or 'DM' received

DMAUR Transmitter interrupts missed

DMAOR Frames received longer than the configured max

TXFRR Failed to transmit a frame

RXOVR Receiver interrupts missed

The counts are also sent as an alert NMVT (subtype 0x0025) on the NetView management connection, if it is active. See message #540.

ACTION: No action is necessary.
