MS SNA Server Tools

<CD picture here> To install the SNA Server Resource Kit utilities, insert the compact disc labeled BackOffice Resource Kit II Utilities and run setup.exe from the root directory. For more information on installing the SNA Server tools, please see the Microsoft SNA Server Tools Documentation in the Helpfile (snatools.hlp).

The Microsoft SNA Server Tools Help file explains how to use the Microsoft SNA Server utilities provided in the Microsoft BackOffice Resource Kit. Setup and usage tools are provided for each utility.

Before installing any of the utilities for SNA Server, consult the Release Notes for any important installation and configuration information. It is recommended that you install the utilities using the Microsoft BackOffice Resource Kit CD-ROM. After installation, you can then move or copy the utilities to the appropriate directories.

All of the SNA Server utilities are installed in the c:\BORK\SNA directory. Each utility will run from this directory.

All but one of the utilities provided on the CD-ROM will only run on computers with Intel processors. The exception is the CLEANUP.EXE tool, which can run on computers with Intel, MIPS, Alpha, and PowerPC computers. For more information about CLEANUP.EXE see the documentation provided in the Microsoft SNA Server Tools Helpfile.

Before using any of the utilities on the CD-ROM, please read the Disclaimer.

The following tools are available for administering or enhancing SNA Server:

CLEANUP.EXE removes all SNA Server services, Registry entries, and files.

ACTIVELU lets you implement a COM wrapper to an SNA LUA API and expose an automation interface.

DISPLAY.EXE shows the number of active SNA Server computers in your subdomain, in addition to other important SNA Server information.

BITFLIP.EXE allows you to bit-flip Ethernet mac addresses for entry on the 3174 940 panel and to bit-flip token ring addresses.

BINDERY.EXE allows you to obtain a list of SNA Server computers, their subdomain names, and their IPX addresses registered in the NetWare bindery.

DRWATSON.EXE allows you to perform diagnostics on 16-bit applications and systems.

HEAPWALK.EXE displays 16-bit Windows processes running on a Windows 3.x, Windows 95, or Windows NT system.

SNATALK.EXE will list SNA Servers and their Banyan VINES StreetTalk addresses.

Note Banyan VINES requires the VNSAPI32.DLL. This DLL is not included with SNA Server or the Windows NT operating system. It is included in the Banyan VINES Enterprise Client for Windows NT software.

GETSENSE.EXE displays four- or eight-digit APPC messages.

APPCTest is a Visual Basic application to help developers create APPC APIs. This program tests APPC API verbs and should be used in conjunction with the Microsoft SNA Server APPC Programmer's Guide.
