Internet Service and Providers

The services available on the Internet varies widely. The basic services used by Internet clients are:

• Internet gateway (default gateway)
• TCP/IP addresses and subnet mask
• DNS name resolution
• Simple network mail protocol (SMTP) services
• Network news transfer protocol (NNTP) news groups

You can find Internet service providers listed in your local phone book (usually under computer network services). Internet service providers also frequently advertise in local newspapers. The Windows NT RAS online Help (RASPHONE.HLP) also lists many PPP and SLIP service providers in locations around the world.
