Close the Messages database and Microsoft Access by choosing Exit from the Microsoft Access File menu.
In a multiuser environment, make sure that all other users have also closed the database. You can check to see who is connected to your computer by using the Server option in Control Panel.
Using the backup method of your choice (such as File Manager, backup software, or the copy command), copy the WINNTMSG.MDB file to another file, such as WINNTBAK.MDB, on a backup medium such as tape, floppy disk, or another network drive.
