To Install FrontPage

  1. Insert the Microsoft FrontPage 98 CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. The Setup program will start automatically.

  2. Setup will first search your computer for required networking components and for Web server software.
    • On Windows 95 only, if Setup does not detect required networking components on your computer, you will be prompted to install them. Click “Yes” and follow the Setup instructions on the screen.

    • If Setup does not detect a Web server on your computer, you will be prompted to install the Microsoft Personal Web Server (on Windows 95) or Microsoft Peer Web Services (on Windows NT Workstation). Click “Yes” and follow the Setup instructions on the screen.

    Note You may be prompted to restart your computer. After restarting, Setup will continue, so that you can install other components of Microsoft FrontPage 98.

  3. If the system setting for your language does not match one of the languages in which FrontPage 98 is offered, Setup displays the Select Language dialog box. Choose the language in which you want to use FrontPage and click OK.

  4. The Setup dialog box has options for installing all the components of Microsoft FrontPage 98. Click Install FrontPage 98 to start the Microsoft FrontPage installation.

  5. There are two setup options, Typical and Custom. The Typical option installs all the components you need to get up and running with FrontPage 98. The Custom option lets you select which FrontPage 98 components to install. The Custom option also includes additional components not available in the Typical option, such as additional clip art. Unless you want to install particular FrontPage 98 components, choose Typical and click Next.

  6. When it has finished installing the FrontPage Server Extensions, Setup may prompt you to restart your computer. After you restart your computer, Setup will continue.

  7. After FrontPage 98 is installed, you will be prompted to start the FrontPage Explorer. If you start the FrontPage Explorer, you can continue Setup at any time.

  8. Install the other components of Microsoft FrontPage 98.
    • Click Install Image Composer to install the Microsoft Image Composer, the easy way to arrange, customize, and create your on-screen images.

    • Click Install Internet Explorer to install the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, the recommended Web browser for use with FrontPage.
  9. Click Exit to exit the Setup program.
