Table of Contents
The Table of Contents component creates an outline of your FrontPage web with hyperlinks to each page in it. When your FrontPage web is published, users can find what they are looking for using the table of contents. The FrontPage Table of Contents updates this outline whenever any page is added, deleted, or renamed in the FrontPage web.
When you create a FrontPage Table of Contents you can specify:
-
The page to use as the starting point of the table of contents. Typically this is your home page, but you can start your table of contents on any page in your FrontPage web.
-
The size of the table’s heading.
-
Whether or not to show each page only once. If you choose to show pages more than once, each page will appear in the table of contents once for each other page in the FrontPage web that has a hyperlink to it.
-
Whether or not to show orphan pages. Orphan pages cannot be reached by following hyperlinks starting from the home page. By displaying orphan pages in your table of contents, you provide users with a way to find them.
-
Whether or not to rebuild the table of contents each time a page is edited in your FrontPage web. If you do not want experimental changes to your FrontPage web to be reflected in the table of contents, you can specify not to rebuild the table of contents each time you edit a page.
You can also create a table of contents for your FrontPage web by creating a new page in the FrontPage Editor and selecting the Table of Contents template. This creates a page containing a FrontPage Table of Contents component configured to create hyperlinks to every page in your FrontPage web.
