Automatically Updating ActiveX Controls
Situation: Your company develops CoolControl, an ActiveX™ control, and user Joe has version 1.0 of CoolControl installed on his system. Joe originally downloaded this control when he visited Site Y, where he also subscribed to a software update channel to automatically receive new versions of this control. Now you have developed version 2.0 of CoolControl and you want all users of CoolControl 1.0 to upgrade. The next time Joe visits any site that uses the CoolControl (including Site Y), he will automatically have CoolControl 2.0 installed from the site of your choice (or even precached so he can install the control offline).
