ACC2: AutoDialer Saves Only Five Characters of Prefix

Last reviewed: May 14, 1997
Article ID: Q121861
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

The Prefix box in the AutoDial dialog box saves only the first five characters you type. If you type more than five characters in the Prefix box and close the AutoDial dialog box, there will be only five characters in the Prefix box the next time you open the AutoDial dialog box.

RESOLUTION

Even though you can store only five characters or less in the Prefix box, you can enter a prefix of more than five characters and use it. The AutoDialer will correctly dial a prefix of more than five characters, but it will not save more than five characters. If you need to use a prefix of more than five characters for a phone number, type the extra characters before calling that number.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version 2.0. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 7.0.
