SYMPTOMSIf you use the Microsoft Windows Sound System Proofreader utility with Microsoft Excel, the following error message may appear when you start Microsoft Excel:
Internal Error at File XLRDR.C, line 1360When this message appears, you can open and edit worksheets in Microsoft Excel, but the Windows Sound System Proofreader will fail.
CAUSEThis behavior occurs when the Ignore Other Applications check box is selected in Microsoft Excel versions 5.0a and 7.0 or when the Ignore Remote Requests check box is selected in version 4.0.
WORKAROUNDSTo prevent this error message from being displayed, follow the appropriate procedure below for your version of Microsoft Excel.

MORE INFORMATIONThe Proofreader utility (PROOF.XLA) for Microsoft Excel establishes remote links between the Windows Sound System and Microsoft Excel using Dynamic Data Exchange or DDE. DDE is a mechanism that permits two applications to "talk" to each other by continuously and automatically exchanging data.
