Map Created with External Data Is Blank or Is Missing Data

SYMPTOMS

When you open a file that contains a Data Map container, the map may be blank or may be missing data.

CAUSE

If external data from a Microsoft Access table was inserted into the map the last time the file was open, then the map will not reflect the external data when you next open it. If the only data reflected in the map was external, then the map will be blank.

RESOLUTION

There is currently no resolution or workaround for this problem.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
