Last reviewed: January 15, 1998
Article ID: Q156987
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0
  • Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you protect a worksheet, Microsoft Excel continues to allow you to select calculation options that affect formulas in the worksheet, such as "Precision as displayed," "Accept labels in formulas" (in Microsoft Excel 97), and "1904 date system." When you change these options, Microsoft Excel updates the formulas even though the worksheet is protected.

STATUS

This behavior is by design in the products listed at the beginning of this article.
