SUMMARY
In Microsoft Excel, after you choose one of the Fill commands (Fill
Down, Fill Right) from the Edit menu to copy formulas down a column or
across a row, the values will not change to reflect the calculations
for the following reasons:
- Automatic Calculation has been turned off. To calculate the values,
do one of the following:
a. Turn on automatic calculation by choosing Calculation from the
Options menu and selecting Automatic.

b. Manually calculate the document by choosing Calculate Now from
the Options menu.
- The formula that has been filled contains absolute references
rather than relative references. For example, the formula
=$A$1+$B$1 contains absolute references; therefore, this exact
formula will appear in any cell into which it is filled without
updating the references. However, the formula =A1+B1 will fill
correctly.
- The sheet where the Fill Down operation was performed is a macro
sheet. Macro sheets do not update the values of formulas until the
macro containing the formulas is run.
