The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for OS/2 versions 2.2, 2.21, and 3.0

SUMMARY

When text spills into adjacent columns beyond the edge of the actual worksheet data area, the text that spills will not print unless the print area is set to include the adjacent column(s) into which the text spills.

MORE INFORMATION

For example, consider the following:

         A B C D
1: This is a long sample text line
   2: 41
   3: 109
   4: 14 33
   5: 25

The label in row 1 is entered into A1. Consequently, data exists only in cells A1, A2, A3, A4, B4, and A5. If no print area is set, the rectangular range containing the data cells (A1:B5) only will be printed, so "ple text line" will not be printed at all.

To print the extra text, the print area must be set manually to include the extra columns -- the print area should be set to A1:D5.
