XADM: Custom Recipients DIR Export Creates Headers-Only CSV

Last reviewed: April 21, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Exchange Server, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you do a directory export using the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program, a CSV file with only the header information may be generated if the Home Server option is not selected for "All".

CAUSE

The Home Server option only affects exports of mailboxes. This is because mailboxes belong to one particular server. Custom recipients and distribution lists belong to the SITE rather than to any particular server; therefore, by selecting a specific server as the home server, the Administrator program fails to match any custom recipients to this condition and exports nothing.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
