PRB: "Source Is Not Available" When Running Compiled Program

Last reviewed: June 27, 1995
Article ID: Q110252
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.0, 2.5, 2.5a, and 2.5b
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5, 2.5a, and 2.5b

SYMPTOMS

When you are running the compiled version of a program, the error message "Source is not available" is displayed.

CAUSE

A "Source is not available" message in FoxPro indicates that an error has occurred in the compiled version of the program and FoxPro is unable to locate the source code for the program.

Not having the source code available can be intentional, such as when a developer is distributing an executable or application. Other possible causes are: the source code may have been deleted, may be in another directory, or may not be included in the path.

RESOLUTION

To see the source of the error, copy the source code to the current directory or include the source directory in the path using the SET PATH command. Then run the application and correct the underlying error.
