BUG: Leftmost Column of Report Prints in the Rightmost Column

Last reviewed: July 27, 1995
Article ID: Q133059
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for UNIX, version 2.6

SYMPTOMS

When you print a report, the leftmost column prints in the rightmost column. When you preview the report, it displays correctly.

CAUSE

Using any of the FoxPro HP LaserJet printer drivers results in this problem.

RESOLUTION

When printing a report using any FoxPro HP LaserJet printer driver, set the LEFT MARGIN option of the FoxPro Printer Setup dialog box to a value greater than or equal to 1.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior is specific to FoxPro for UNIX and does not occur on other platforms.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create a Printer Driver Setup based on any of the FoxPro HP LaserJet printer drivers (HP LJ II (60 lpp), HP Laserjet 500/+/II, or HP Laserjet III). Name the printer driver HPLJ.

  2. Set the newly-created printer driver setup (HPLJ) as the default printer driver.

  3. Create a report that has two to three columns.

  4. Print the report.

  5. Open the FoxPro Printer Setup dialog box by choosing Printer Setup from the File menu. Set Left Margin to a value greater than or equal to 1, and click OK to close the dialog.

  6. Print the report again.

The report printed in step 4 displays the incorrect behavior, and the report printed in step 6 displays correctly.
