FP1: Links Lost When You Use WebBot Substitution Component

Last reviewed: March 17, 1998
Article ID: Q154468
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage for Windows, version 1.1

SYMPTOMS

Links that consist entirely of WebBot Substitution components may be lost when you save a page.

CAUSE

FrontPage removes links that do not surround text or images. If the text you are establishing a link to is created by a WebBot Substitution component, FrontPage misinterprets the WebBot code as a comment, and it removes the link.

RESOLUTION

Add some text to the anchor of the hyperlink so that the anchor is not rendered entirely by the WebBot Substitution component.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows with Bonus Pack.
