PRB: Visual C++ Standard Not Compatible with Visual J++

Last reviewed: January 29, 1998
Article ID: Q161701
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Visual J++, version 1.0, 1.1

SYMPTOMS

When Visual C++ 4.0 or Visual C++ 4.1 and Visual J++ are installed into the same directory, problems occur.

For example, when installing Visual C++, then Visual J++, and subsequently uninstalling Visual J++, Visual C++ fails to startup because it cannot find Msvcsrc.dll.

RESOLUTION

Do not install Visual C++ and Visual J++ in the same directory. They must be installed in different directories for the two products to work as expected.
