  • Microsoft Office for Windows, versions 4.2, 4.3

SYMPTOMS

When Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) is reinstalled or upgraded from an earlier version, the Cue Cards are not displayed when Office Manager is restarted.

CAUSE

The MSOFFICE.INI is not created by the setup program, but is created by MOM. When MOM is reinstalled or upgraded and the MSOFFICE.INI has not been removed or renamed, the original existing INI file is used by the new installation of Office Manager.

Cue cards are automatically displayed only the first two times MOM is run. At that point MSOFFICE.INI shows the following line in the [Options] section:

   ShowCueCard=2

This line tells MSOFFICE.INI that Cue Cards have been shown twice, and do not automatically need to be shown again. To display the Cue Cards again, choose the Microsoft Office button on the MOM toolbar, and choose Cue Cards.

STATUS

This behavior is by design of Microsoft Office.
