XL7: Binder Hangs When You Activate Password Protected Section

SYMPTOMS

When you work with an Office Binder that contains two Microsoft Excel workbook sections, if the sections are password protected, your computer will hang when you attempt to switch between the two sections; you must either end the tasks or exit Windows 95.

CAUSE

When the section is activated, Microsoft Excel tries to bring up a dialog box prompting you for the password.

WORKAROUND

Do not use more than one password-protected Microsoft Excel workbook section.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
