Random System Errors with RAM Doubler and PCI Power Macs

SYMPTOMS

If you use any version of Microsoft Office for the Macintosh listed at the beginning of this article, and you use Connectix RAM Doubler version 1.5.2a or earlier on a Power Macintosh with a PCI bus, you may receive random Type 1 errors, your computer may stop responding (hang), or your computer may experience a system failure.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you use an older version of RAM Doubler that is incompatible with the newer Power Macintosh computers and Apple System Software version 7.5.2.

The following Power Macintosh computers are equipped with a PCI bus:

   7200
   7500
   8500
   9500

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, contact Connectix to obtain the RAM Doubler 1.6.1 Updater for Macintosh computers.

NOTE: Until you receive the Updater, use Extension Manager to disable RAM Doubler, and turn on Virtual Memory.
