SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 97, some e-mail messages do not trigger the arrival notification sound or dialog box display.

CAUSE

The arriving e-mail notification is on a 5-minute (120000-millisecond) cycle. The first message arriving after the beginning of a cycle will be announced. Subsequent arrivals during the cycle will not trigger the notification. The notification will execute only once during the 5-minute cycle.

STATUS

This is by design.
