OL97: Cannot Set or Change the Default File Save As Location

SUMMARY

Microsoft Outlook 97 does not provide a method for setting or changing the default File Save As path, as other Microsoft Office 97 programs do.

The Save As dialog box saves to your My Documents folder or whatever folder your Windows Registry defines as the Personal User Shell folder. Outlook does not provide an option to change the default Save As folder.

If you use the Save As dialog box to navigate to another folder, Outlook uses the last used folder for that Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) session. If you click "Exit and Log Off" on the File menu and then start Outlook in a new MAPI session, Outlook saves files to the My Documents folder.
