The information in this article applies to:

The Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) Knowledge Base group regularly compiles the articles from the Microsoft Mail gateway database and creates a Windows Help file that is available in the Microsoft Software Library on the Microsoft Network, the Microsoft Download Service (MSDL), Microsoft OnLine, and the Internet.

The Help file for Microsoft Mail gateways and associated products is in a self-extracting file named GTWAYKB.EXE and contains several hundred technical articles written by PSS Support Engineers and Knowledge Base writers prior to December 8, 1995. These articles contain:

  • References to Application Notes and other files available in the Microsoft Software Library
  • Additional references
  • Questions and answers
  • Recent product information not addressed in the user documentation
  • Helpful tips

NOTE: Currently, this Help file can only be run from Windows 95 or Windows NT version 3.51.
  • If you have Windows NT 3.5 or earlier, you must upgrade to version 3.51 to view this Help file.
  • If you have Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11, a driver will be available within a week that will allow you to view this Help file.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING

You can find GTWAYKB.EXE or Pw1118.exe, a self-extracting file, on the following services:

  • Microsoft's World Wide Web Site on the Internet

          On the www.microsoft.com home page, click the Support icon.
          Click Knowledge Base, and select the product.
          Enter kbfile GTWAYKB.EXE or Pw1118.exe, and click GO!
          Open the article, and click the button to download the file.
    
  • Internet (anonymous FTP)

          ftp ftp.microsoft.com
          Change to the Softlib/Mslfiles folder.
          Get GTWAYKB.EXE (or Pw1118.exe)
    
  • The Microsoft Network

          On the Edit menu, click Go To, and then click Other Location.
          Type "mssupport" (without the quotation marks).
          Double-click the MS Software Library icon.
          Find the appropriate product area.
          Locate and Download GTWAYKB.EXE (or Pw1118.exe)
    
  • Microsoft Download Service (MSDL)

          Dial (206) 936-6735 to connect to MSDL
          Download GTWAYKB.EXE or Pw1118.exe
