SMS: Message to Restart Not Seen By User After Upgrade

The information in this article applies to:

- Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade Systems Management Server (SMS) 1.1 clients to SMS 1.2, the following MS-DOS dialog box flashes on the screen:

   Microsoft Systems Management Server has been successfully upgraded.
   Restart your machine for all newly installed components to run and
   function properly.

This message is displayed very rapidly on the screen and then the MS-DOS dialog box disappears. A restart is required for full functionality.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 1.2. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2.
