BUG: srv_pfield Returns Unprintable String for SRV_LIBVERS

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to retrieve the DB-Library (DB-Lib) version that a client application is using, the srv_pfield() function called specifying the SRV_LIBVERS field returns a string composed of non-printable characters instead of a string representing the DB-Library version.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in DB-Library version 4.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
