The information in this article applies to:

  - Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2 for OS/2
  - Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2

The use of database devices accessed over the network is not a supported configuration for either the OS/2 or Windows NT versions of Microsoft SQL Server. All database devices, including mirrors, should be configured to use local drives. Database dump devices are an exception to this restriction.
