BUG: Remote Upgrade Fails to Generate SQL Server 6.5 Icons

SYMPTOMS

The SQL Server 6.50 group of icons does not exist on a computer that has been upgraded remotely.

CAUSE

The remote upgrade fails to generate a new group of icons or upgrade the existing group of icons.

WORKAROUND

Rebuild the SQL Server Registry entries and the icons will be generated. From an MS-DOS prompt, type:

   cd \<root of SQL>\binn
   setup /t RegistryRebuild = On

Be sure to type the setup command exactly as indicated, including capitalization. There must be a space on both sides of the equal sign (=).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server 6.50. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
