printf() Does Not Display Text in the Current Text Color

The information in this article applies to:

  • The C Run-time (CRT), included with: 

        - Microsoft C for MS-DOS, versions 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 6.0a, and 6.0ax
    - Microsoft C/C++ for MS-DOS, version 7.0
    - Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows, version 1.0

The _settextcolor() function does not change the color of the text that the printf() function produces. The _outtext() function produces colored text; however, it does not provide the text formatting capabilities that printf() does. To create formatted and colored text, use the sprintf() function to format the text into a buffer and call _outtext() to display the buffer on the screen in the desired color.
