Error if Productivity Pack Installed in Root Directory

SYMPTOMS

When you are asked into which directory you would like to install Microsoft Productivity Pack for Windows, and your response indicates the root of any partition (C:\, D:\, and so on), you receive the following error message:

   Setup was canceled or can't complete installing the Microsoft
   Windows Productivity Pack. Run Windows Setup again, and then run
   the Productivity Pack Setup again.

RESOLUTION

To avoid this problem, and successfully install the Productivity Pack, specify a subdirectory such as C:\WPP
