Determining the Amount of Disk Space with Stacker

SUMMARY

The best way to accurately determine the amount of free space on a hard drive running Stacker is to run the Scheck utility.

Stacker is a utility, manufactured by STAC Electronics, that performs hard disk file compression.

To Run Scheck

  1. Exit Windows (running an MS-DOS shell does not work).

  2. At an MS-DOS command line, type

          scheck
    

  3. Press ENTER. A screen similar to the following should be displayed:

Information about the amount of free space on the hard drive is on the Bytes Free row in the right column (for example, 5,798,400 in the example above).
