SYMPTOMS

A timing problem with some 80387 Intel math coprocessors causes general protection (GP) faults in WIN87EM.DLL or causes applications that make use of the coprocessor (such as Microsoft Excel, CorelDRAW, Lotus 1-2-3, Quicken, AMI Pro, After Dark, and WordPerfect 6.0) to experience other errors when you run applications under Windows 3.1.

WORKAROUND

To work around these problems, obtain an updated version of WIN87EM.DLL, which adjusts for the timing problem. The updated file is available in Application Note "WW0548: WIN87EM.DLL Patch for Intel 80387."
