"VMError - makepattern" Error Printing to PostScript Printer

SYMPTOMS

When you send a print job to a PostScript printer, the following error page is printed:

   ERROR: VMerror
   OFFENDING COMMAND: makepattern
   STACK:

CAUSE

The printer does not have enough memory to process the document you wanted to print.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, do one of the following:

  • Add more memory to the printer.
  • Print one page at a time to reduce printer memory requirements.
