Unable to Set Permissions on LAN Manager Shared Directory

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to administer a shared directory on a LAN Manager version 2.2 server using Server Manager provided in Windows NT Server Tools for Windows for Workgroups version 3.11, the Permissions option is not available.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a Windows version 3.1 utility, NETADMIN.EXE, to remotely set the permissions on the LAN Manager server shared directory.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT Server Tools for Windows for Workgroups version 3.11. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
